Stretch film trial checklist: four numbers to measure before changing supplier.

A sample roll is only useful when the trial answers a practical question: can the new film wrap the same load reliably with a better operating result?

Set the same conditions first.

Run the comparison on an equivalent pallet load, with the same wrapper, film width, wrapping pattern and target containment. Record the result across enough pallets to represent normal operation—not only one successful wrap.

The four numbers to record.

Film grams per palletMeasure actual film consumed for a comparable pallet. This is the starting point for a material-efficiency comparison.
Pallets per rollCount completed comparable pallets per roll to reveal roll-change frequency and usable output.
Break and puncture eventsRecord where and when the film fails: at an edge, during pre-stretch, on the wrapper or in handling.
Load stability after handlingCheck the load after the route that matters: warehouse movement, storage, transport preparation or delivery.

Ask the right conclusion.

Do not ask only whether the film is thinner or cheaper per kg. Ask whether it maintains the required load protection with less material, fewer interruptions or a more stable result. If it does not, the trial has still given useful evidence.

Plan a like-for-like trial. Share your current film, wrapper model, pallet type and the problem you want to solve. HONGYAN PACKING can recommend a test focus and sample direction.
